Rather than asking you to choose from a list of pre-defined responses, this
month's survey invited you to answer in your own words. Most of your
suggestions involved adding business listings, and wherever we could these
requests were accommodated. For example, a few of you asked us to add
private postal services, and this was done on the Post Office page. Not
surprisingly, many voiced concerns on the local tax burden. Although the
Wantagh website is not affiliated with the government, we will forward this
concern to local officials and we'll discuss it at the January survey
meeting. What's more, we will continue to keep you informed about tax
related meetings on the Wantagh dot LI calendar.
Comments over the environment and over-development were also raised. Here
also, the Wantagh dot LI calendar can be of assistance since it lists local
community meetings. Often the topic of these meetings involve the
environment and over-development. As for the photo contest, the rules have been modified to remove
the age limit, although parental consent is needed for applicants under
eighteen. This age-limit request was also voiced during a recent visit to
the Wantagh Middle School.

A new condominium project was
proposed for property on Wantagh Avenue that is now zoned Residence "A" for
single-family homes. The DAO Realty Corp has petitioned the Town of
Hempstead’s Board of Zoning Appeals to change the zoning designation of
the property, located at 1708 and behind 1710 Wantagh Avenue, to "C-A"
zoning for multi-family homes. These survey results echo the opposition voiced at a recent meeting of the Wantagh/Seaford Homeowners
Association, where the community cited traffic, aesthetic and
quality-of-life concerns. For more information, please
